ABOUT THE GLASS JEWL

How did I get here?  Well here is my story.

About 13+ years ago I was meeting my then husband for dinner at this little taqueria in a strip mall I'd driven by many times.  The line was long so I left him in line and went and strolled around the corner.  There, like a beacon for me was a little shop that taught ceramics (another thing I love!) but they also had the words "Fused Glass Classes".  FUSED WHAT? What black magic was this!? I wondered.

The shop was going to close in mere minutes so I popped inside for a quick recon mission.  No one was at the counter, but I didn't care, I marveled at the pieces I could see that I assumed were this new thing called fused glass.  I admired my old friend ceramic in it's various stages of undress; massive blocks of clay, green ware, bisque, but I couldn't take my eyes off the glass.  Finally a young woman came out of the back and  in a weary and exasperated tone said, "we're closed, you will have to come back another time.  I can't help you!".  Poor thing.  I thought perhaps I could bribe her with my husbands tacos (what?  I was starving, I was going to eat mine!), but then her weariness turned to rudeness, so no tacos for her!   Sorry, I digress.

Before leaving I was able to coax one or two sentences out of her as she backed me into the door to leave.  I didn't care, I had work to do, research to conduct, supplies to buy, space to clear!  I had no idea how, but darn it, I was going to fuse glass, whatever the hell that meant!

So that was how I got the idea.  I am just that kind of person, I hear about something and if it piques my interest, oh, I am all over it like a fat kid on cake!  I started with a microwave kiln which was fun but a little unpredictable and over the last 13+ years, I now have 3 larger kilns and never stop learning and creating.

My work is designed to create a smile, a laugh or be just what you need when nothing else works.  I hope you find fun, inspiration, and joy in my work as I continue to learn and grow.

Thank you for being on this journey with me,
